NEWBURGH – Police from several agencies including the Orange County Sheriff’s SWAT team arrested one suspect following an arm standoff at a Valero gas station at Lake and South William Streets in the City of Newburgh.
City officials say they are .looking into the possibility of the second suspect
The incident began after 3:30 this morning and the suspect was taken into custody around 10 am.
Police from several area agencies responded along with the sheriff’s SWAT team.

City of Newburgh Chief of Staff Mike Neppl added the following Newburgh official statement:
City of Newburgh Police can confirm the arrest of a male suspect in an armed robbery this morning at the Valero gas station at 115 Lake Street. CNPD ushered the store clerk out of the store unharmed and without incident. One suspect was taken into custody, and a thorough search of the building was conducted with a K9 unit and law enforcement personnel. Reports of a second suspect are unconfirmed at this time.”
