SUNY Orange Jazz Ensemble Spring Performances, Middletown 4/24 & 4/25

The Spring performance of the SUNY Orange Jazz Ensemble is scheduled for 7:30pm on Friday, April 25, 2025 in Orange Hall. The open rehearsal morning set will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 24. Both sessions are free and open to the Public song selections include pieces from various jazz styles such as: Swing, Funk, Bossa, Nova, Blues, and Latin Jazz. Featured composers are Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Ray Barretto, and Antonio Carlos Jobim
The Jazz Ensemble is composed of enthusiastic SUNY Orange students and members of the community. Since their backgrounds in music vary dramatically, they work, under the guidance of their director, to become one coherent codependent group. This semester’s ensemble includes:
Kareem Dilworth - trombone, violin
Nico Haines - drums, percussion
Megumi Kinoshita - piano
Donna Lavins - flute
Nancy Murillo - vocals, percussion
John Parodi - bass
Milton Peters - guitar
Benedict Ruckdeschel - drums, percussion
Jess Schreiner - clarinet, alto saxophone
The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Caroline Tippin, multi-
instrumentalist/vocalist, who received a BM (Bachelor’s Degree in Music) from
Dartmouth College, and an MM (Master’s of Music) in Ethnomusicology from the University of Texas at Austin - College of Fine Arts. She is an active musician and plays violin in the SUNY Orange Orchestra, a string quartet, and flute, saxophone and piano in several Jazz music projects.
Free parking is available in lot #1 adjacent to Orange Hall which is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, (GPS: 24 Grandview Ave.) on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange.
