It's that time of year, and local Trees for Tribs will be gathering this Saturday at Otterkill and Taylor Road to continue their work to expand tree health and a balanced ecosystem along the Moodna Creek in the area of the Moodna Viaduct.
Join workers for the afternoon, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the parking lot at 220 Otterkill Rd. and ending about 4pm.
Bring a friend (or 2 or 3) and plan a little extra time either before or afterward for a short hike on the Schunnemunk Rail Trail.
Last Saturday was America's Trail Day, and while it ended up being a rather inclement weekend for hiking, we still have all the rest of Spring and Summer to catch up, so let's START.
Trees for Tribs takes care of native trees planted along the Moodna Creek, to preserve our estuaries. This annual maintenance event benefits nearby towns such ans Cornwall, Blooming Grove, Washingtoinville, New Windsor and Salisbury Mills.
They ask all Sweep volunteers to wear study shoes or boots, clothing that can get dirty, a hat, sunscreen and tick repellent. Please bring work gloves and pruners if you can. The site is suitable for children ONLY with adult supervision.
Hope to see you there.
