Albany — Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt (R,C,I,LBT,SAM - New Windsor) announces that he has co-sponsored Assemblyman Mike Lawler’s legislation to repeal congestion pricing (A.7750). New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to charge motorists up to $23 to drive into Manhattan's central business district:
Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt stated, “I am proud to announce that I have co-sponsored A.7750, repealing congesting pricing in New York State. Charging commuters up to $23 just to get to work is an affront to taxpayers in the Hudson Valley. The men and women who commute into NYC to fight the city’s fires, and answer the city’s police and emergency calls live in my district. Many of the hardworking trade union members who build the city are residents of my district. Folks who seek world-class medical care and those who provide it live in my district. People who travel to support the city’s arts, cultural and sports economy live in my district. The farmers of my district feed the city. These are the people this plan hurts and it is unacceptable.”
Schmitt concluded, “This congestion pricing plan would decimate the bank accounts of Hudson Valley families who continue to feel the pain at the pump and in their wallets due to reckless government overspending. One-party control from Albany to Washington is to blame, we must stand by common sense and that is why this bill must move forward to repeal this horrible plan.”
Colin Schmitt is committed to public service. Colin is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and Assemblyman for the 99th NYS Assembly District which includes the Town of Stony Point in Rockland County and The Towns of Wawayanda, Goshen, Hamptonburgh, Chester, Blooming Grove, New Windsor, Cornwall, Highlands, and Woodbury in Orange County. Colin lives in the Town of New Windsor with his wife Nikki and their beloved adopted Catahoula Quincy!
