New Orange County Sheriff Pulls 7 Investigators Back to Main Office

Goshen – Like many other police agencies, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is facing staffing shortages and the new sheriff told county lawmakers on Thursday that he is pulling seven investigators back to his agency.

"One of them will be taken out of the City of Newburgh," Sheriff Paul Arteta said.

“The City of Newburgh has a non-fatal shooting task force. Our investigators, who we invest a lot of money into, is handling all of their cases, We’re pulling our investigators back. They need to hire their own and we will back them up and help them, but I can’t have my investigator taxing the Orange County taxpayers for one place. It’s costing us a lot of money and Newburgh is not helping county reidents that much by having our investigator, by herself, working there.”
