Blooming Grove Swearing In Brings 3 New Members Onboard and Supervisor Jeroloman Into 18th Year of Leadership

Blooming Grove's Elected Officials being sworn in



Town of Blooming Grove - On Tuesday evening, Jan. 2nd, Council members were given their Oath of Office, and with 3 new members the dias has returned to a full board. In addition to continuing members Cathy Acevedo who is the current Deputy Supervisor and represents Ward 1, continuing members include Simon Schwatz who represents Ward 4, and Steven Amante who represents Ward 6, the board has 3 new members: Johanna Kiernan, who was Deputy Supervisor some years back has returned to represent Ward 3. Frank Malloy who will represent Ward 2 which was vacated when Tom Devinko became Mayor of the Village of Washingtonville, and John Stegenga will represent Ward 5 which was vacated when George Doering retired. Wayne Kirkpatrick (Highway Superintendent) and Vanessa Lynn (Receiver of Taxes), which are also elected positions, were also sworn in.. Simon Schwartz (not shown) was sworn in when he arrived, later in the evening.


Supervisor Rob Jeroloman is now in; his 18th year of Service to the Town, first as Mayor of the Village of South Blooming Grove for 11 years from 2006 to 2017, and then Town Supervisor for 7 years, from 2018 to the present. Previous to being a local official he served as an NYPD Detective. During his time of leadership both of those boards have been known as hard-working and congenial, having plowed through several significant Comprehensive Plans and successful litigation of nearly a dozen legal challenges during the formation of the Village of South Blooming Grove. The Town Board has recently increased its oversight of environmental protection with both an active Conservation Advisory Committee and a Preservation Committee. The Town has successfully overseen the building of one community solar project and has two more in planning. There are several new businesses in its NNI Limited Industrial & Business Area and there are plans for a new Firehouse and a new home for the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps. A new Senior Center is now more than halfway complete at Lasser Park.
