Blooming Grove -Storms Continue to Threaten Area With Downed Trees and Wires

Spring leaped into Summer like the tiger lillies popping up along the roads, and while residents were grateful for the breaks in over 90 degree afternoons, the straight line winds and sidewise rain were frightening and left monstrous trees scattered in yards. Electric service workers tackled the mess throughout the day yesterday. Prospect Road was closed from the curve past Peddler Hill, South Merriwold was also closed with multiple wires down. And at the corner of Craigville Road (Route 51) and Greycourt Road a huge tree was spread across the property along with downed lines. From the exhausted look of the electric worker, he had already been cleaning the mess up for hours, and still has hours to finish this site.

At this time the Courier Journal has not heard of any storm related personal injuries.

Yesterday brought some very welcomed relief with a strong breeze throughout the day and lower temperatures in the 70's to 80's.

Today is warming up, but no storms are expected this evening, and the weather should be just about perfect for Washingtonville High School to celebrate Senior Graduation. Ceremonies.
