Assemblyman Schmitt Gives $25,000 Grant to Woodbury Public Library



Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R,C,I,LBT,SAM - New Windsor), presented the Woodbury Public Library, Ida Cornell Branch, with $25,000.00 for their building improvement project. This project will help replace the entry walkway, stairs, and ADA-compliant.


Schmitt stated, "Libraries are critical to our communities, providing access to reading and learning for all ages. It's my honor to be able to assist the Ida Cornell Branch of the Woodbury Public Library with their building improvement project. This will help ensure a clear, safe entry and exit for everyone. I encourage all members of the community to make use of this wonderful resource."


“Woodbury Town Councilwoman Kate Luciani said, "It was a great honor to stand with Assemblyman Schmitt and other elected officials as he presented Ida Cornell Branch Library with a $25,000.00 check. Standing beside Monroe Councilwoman Dorey Houle, County Legislator Pete Tuohy, and Woodbury Town Supervisor Tom Burke, Assemblyman Schmitt presented the check to Library Director Sara Johnson and Library Board member Cathy Schmidt who responded, "We appreciate all that Assemblyman Schmitt does for our Woodbury community. It’s been a real honor to work with him side by side to get these grants for those that need them. We know the library needs repairs and this money will go a long way towards completing them. Thank you again, Colin, and thanks to all who helped make this a special presentation.”


Monroe Town Councilwoman Dorey Houle stated, "Libraries are integral to child development. They provide learning opportunities for children through tactile, visual, and auditory activities that provide the basis for lifelong learning. Thank you, Assemblyman Schmitt, for your continued support throughout the Hudson Valley, keeping our strong values at the forefront.”


Woodbury Town Supervisor Thomas Burke stated, "I along with the Woodbury Town Board, am appreciative of Colin Schmitt's generosity and for choosing Woodbury to receive this $25,000.00 grant which will benefit the Ida Cornell Library in Central Valley. Libraries are a source of knowledge and learning and their continued enhancements are key for our future generations.”


Woodbury Public Library Director Sara Johnson said, "On behalf of the Woodbury Public Library, we thank Assemblyman Colin Schmitt for not only recognizing the needs of the library but acting on them. This funding will help ensure our building improvement project, in particular, the need for replacing our steps and ramp can be completed in a timely manner. Thank you, Assemblyman Schmitt!"
